1. Introduction

Religious symbols such as pictures of Jesus Christ, Deities like Shiva, Srikrushna, Saints, the Cross, the Star and Crescent, Aum etc. are widely used by seekers of God as per their religion as an important tool in their worship. Many seekers have experienced that having a picture to view helps in establishing concentration. This is especially so in the case of seekers in the initial stages of spiritual practice. This benefit is mostly at the psychological level.

However, the pictures play a much deeper role at the spiritual level, that is, in the dimension beyond the senses, mind and intellect. These pictures act as antennae in drawing the corresponding God Principle from the atmosphere into the picture and transmitting it towards the worshipper. The more the picture matches the original form of the God Principle, the more it can imbibe and transmit the God Principle.

2. Salient features of the drawings based on subtle-knowledge of Deities made by seekers under the guidance of His Holiness Dr. Athavale

2.1 Commercially made pictures of Deities

Most commercially made pictures of Deities are able to capture only 1-2% of the Divine Energy/Divine consciousness of the Deity. This is because:

The pictures are drawn as per the artist’s imagination without any effective effort at trying to perceive and then accurately portray the original form of the Deity. By accuracy we mean the subtle ability to capture all the nuances of the Deity. In doing so, the Divine consciousness in the Deity is automatically captured.

The main stumbling blocks in this are:

  • Lack of the requisite high spiritual level in the artist to perceive the vibrations of the Deity, and
  • Lack of guidance by a spiritually evolved Saint.

2.2 Drawings based on subtle-knowledge of Deities drawn by seekers under the guidance of H.H. Dr. Athavale

The following are the salient features of the drawings based on subtle-knowledge of Deities made by seekers under the guidance of H.H. Dr. Athavale.

  • The artist seekers have undertaken the entire project as their spiritual practice for God-realisation.
  • Each line and colour shade in the drawings based on subtle-knowledge has been finalised by receiving knowledge of the original form of the Deity in the meditative state and confirming it with H.H. Dr. Athavale.
  • Another active factor functional in this project was the resolve of H.H. Dr. Athavale.
  • This project was taken up by H.H. Dr. Athavale to provide seekers worldwide with drawings based on subtle-knowledge of Deities with up to 30% of the original Deity Principle. In the present Era (Kaliyug), this is the maximum extent of Deity Principle that can be made available through drawings based on subtle-knowledge. It is also the maximum extent of Deity Principle that can be tolerated by most people in society due to their average low spiritual level.
  • The importance of such sattvik drawings based on subtle-knowledge of Deities is that:
    • Drawings based on subtle-knowledge matching the original form of the Deity make the worship that much easier for the seekers as the drawings based on subtle-knowledge themselves contribute to so much of the Deity Principle being available. The rest depends on the yearning, faith and devotion of the worshipping seekers.
    • These drawings based on subtle-knowledge, by virtue of the high Deity Principle available in them, act as excellent spiritual healing remedies.

The drawings based on subtle-knowledge of Deities were made in a series of efforts by the artist seekers. Thus, as the spiritual level and spiritual emotion of the artist seekers increased, we had a series of drawings based on subtle-knowledge of the Deities with increasing ability to imbibe and transmit the corresponding Deity Principle. For example, the drawing based on subtle-knowledge of Deity Shiva used in this experiment was the one ready in 2008. It could imbibe and transmit 15% of the Deity Shiva Principle. The drawing based on subtle-knowledge of Deity Shiva now available in 2011 can imbibe and transmit 28.7% of the Deity Shiva Principle.

3. Methodology

In this study we compared the status of positivity of the drawing based on subtle-knowledge of Deity Shiva made by artist seekers under the guidance of H.H. Dr. Athavale with a commercial picture of Deity Shiva using the PIP technique.

3.1 Collection of samples

This experiment was performed on 23rd September, 2008. The drawing based on subtle-knowledge made by seekers was 2 inches (10.16 cms) x 3 inches (15.24 cms) in size. The commercial picture was of a comparable size.

3.2 Method of taking pictures by the PIP equipment

We placed the drawing based on subtle-knowledge of Deity Shiva made by seekers and the commercial picture in two similar small white envelopes. Each envelope was then placed in a bigger white envelope, one at a time. This envelope was placed on the PIP setup platform such that one side of the envelope was facing the PIP camera. The placement of this bigger envelope was identical in both the instances. The pictures by the PIP camera of both the small envelopes were taken without changing the settings of the camera.

We studied both the picture and the drawing based on subtle-knowledge of Deity Shiva by using the Black/White, Monet, PIP and Landscape filters.

4. Observations

4.1 Black/White filter

Black-White-filter

Black/White filter Colours Commercial picture Drawing based on subtle-knowledge made by seekers

Compared to the commercial picture of Deity Shiva, the drawing based on subtle-knowledge made by seekers showed

  1. More dark blue and pink colour indicative of positivity in the energy field on the object
  2. Lesser red colour indicative of negativity in the energy field surrounding object

Inference

There is more positivity in the energy field on the object.

There is less negativity in the energy field surrounding the object.

4.2 Monet filter

5. Conclusion of the experiment

  • The energy field on object showed more positivity in all the filters in the drawing based on subtle-knowledge of Deity Shiva made by seekers compared to the commercial picture.
  • The energy field surrounding object showed more positivity in the PIP and Monet filters in the drawing based on subtle-knowledge of Deity Shiva made by seekers compared to the commercial picture. The pictures taken using the Black/White filter showed less negativity in the energy field surrounding object in the drawing based on subtle-knowledge of Deity Shiva made by seekers compared to the commercial picture.

From the above, we can conclude that the drawing based on subtle-knowledge of Deity Shiva made by seekers is more positive than the commercial picture.

6. Input from the subtle-knowledge section

The extent and form of functioning of any component changes as per the circumstances at any given moment.

Question: In the comparative study of the drawing based on subtle-knowledge of Deity Shiva made by seekers under the guidance of H.H. Dr. Athavale and a commercial picture of Deity Shiva, the energy surrounding the drawing based on subtle-knowledge made by seekers showed more positivity in the photographs taken using the PIP and Monet filters compared with the commercial picture. However, the reading of the photograph of the same picture taken by the Black/White filter showed reduction in negativity, not more positivity compared with the commercial picture as in the first two filters. What is the reason underlying this?

Subtle-knowledge section: The functioning of every Divine consciousness (Chaitanya) emanating object changes from moment to moment. If the atmosphere is conducive to a positive mission, the Chaitanya emanating object can function merely at the level of sāttviktā at the maximum level. This is so because there is no resistance from distressing vibrations from the atmosphere.

When the PIP pictures of the commercial picture of Deity Shiva and the one made by seekers were taken using the PIP and Monet filters, the attacks by negative energies on the drawings based on subtle-knowledge were minimal. That is why the drawings based on subtle-knowledge taken using these filters showed the emission of positive energy from these drawings based on subtle-knowledge of Deity Shiva.

However, when the pictures were taken using the Black/White filter, as there was attack by negative energies on the pictures, there were frictional vibrations to a greater extent in the environment. That is why the inference was in terms of proportion of negativity. As the drawing based on subtle-knowledge of Deity Shiva made by seekers is more sāttvikcompared to the commercial picture, less negativity was seen on the energy field surrounding this drawing based on subtle-knowledge . The extent and form of functioning of any component changes as per the circumstances at any given moment. The filters draw inferences based on this. However, why the inferences of the different filters about the same component are different can be explained only by the science of Spirituality.

7. Key points learned

7.1 Importance of sattvik drawings based on subtle-knowledge of Deities

This study showed that sattvik drawings based on subtle-knowledge of Deities made by seekers under guidance of Saints emanate more positivity than commercial pictures. Hence, such drawings based on subtle-knowledge are more beneficial for worship than the commercially available pictures. Therefore, wherever possible we can try to use such sattvik drawings based on subtle-knowledge of our religious symbols for worship.
