22 November 2008 | Introduction of new skype satsangs

Upto now SSRF has been conducting free lectures at physical premises worldwide. Now thanks to the free conference technology through Skype, we are trying to reach all our readers via the Internet regardless of where they may be.

We will be holding 2 satsangs via Skype every week for our readers worldwide. These satsangs will be as per the European and Australasian time zones but can be attended from any other region. Everyone can choose to attend the satsang that has the most convenient time for them. Both satsangs will have the same topic. So if you miss one you can always attend one from another region.

Due to a high demand for this satsang from India we will be holding a third special satsang only for readers residing in India. We request readers residing in India only to attend this satsang.

Since it is all via the Internet you will be able to attend the satsang wherever you may be at your convenience. All you will need is a computer connected to a broadband Internet service, earphones and a microphone along with the Skype Internet Telephony free software.

Registrations for the first satsang are now open. The theory topic will be Satsang 1: ‘Basic concepts in spiritual practice’.

The following are the time zones

European time zone:      26 Nov 2008 (every Wednesday)
Australian time zone:    30 Nov 2008 (every Sunday)
Special satsang for India:    30 Nov 2008 (every Sunday)

15 September 2008 | Notice about chanting during the period dedicated to departed ancestors

According to the lunar calendar, this year the ancestors’ fortnight (pitrupaksha) falls in the fortnight between 15 Sep 2008 to 29 Sep 2008. If we chant ‘Sree Gurudev Datta’ during this period, our ancestor’s derive even more benefit from it and attain momentum faster in the afterlife. This chant helps to protect us from problems due to departed ancestors and also helps our ancestors attain momentum from the Region of the Dead (Martyaloka) to Nether region (Bhuvaloka).

It is highly recommended that all chant ‘Sree Gurudev Datta’ for 6 hours daily during this fortnight. During this period priority should be given to completing the prescribed amount of this chant compared to the chanting the Name of God as per one’s religion . If it is not possible to do 6 hours of chanting every day, we can strive to chant as much as possible.

Please pass this on to your family and friends. If you have any experiences from chanting the Name please do let us know via the ‘Post a comment’ functionality.

15 June 2008 | Gurupurnima.

Gurupurnima - the day to honour the guiding principle of God is on 18 July 2008. In the coming month the Guru Principle will be more active and on the 18th will be 1000 times more active. Do take advantage of this spiritually conducive period and step up your spiritual practice efforts.

15 Feb 2008 | Increase spiritual practice on 21 Feb 2008 as there is Total Lunar eclipse on this day.

There will be a total Lunar eclipse on 21 Feb 2008. There is an increase in raja-tama during eclipses which has negative effects on humanity. Ghosts take advantage of the heightened raja-tama to create a variety of issues that have global negative repercussions.Regular spiritual practice as well as intense spiritual practice like chanting the Name of God during the eclipse ensures that one is insulated from its subtle harmful effects.

27 Sep 2007 | Notice about chanting during the period dedicated to departed ancestors

According to the lunar calendar, this year the ancestors’ fortnight (pitrupaksha) falls in the fortnight between 27 Sep 2007 to 11 Oct 2007. If we chant ‘Sree Gurudev Datta’ during this period, our ancestor’s derive even more benefit from it and attain momentum faster in the afterlife. From this perspective to help our ancestors attain momentum from the Region of the Dead (Martyaloka) to Nether region (Bhuvaloka), it is essential that all chant ‘Sree Gurudev Datta’ for 6 hours daily during this fortnight. During this period priority should be given to completing the prescribed amount of this chant compared to the chanting the Name of God as per one’s religion. If it is not possible to do 6 hours of chanting every day, we can strive to chant as much as possible.

15 Sep 2007 | Increase in the amount of chanting

Due to the increase in raja-tama in the current times the recommended minimum amount of chanting is 2 hours a day. This can be a combination of either the Name of God as per one’s religion and/or the chant of Sree Gurudev Datta to overcome ancestral problems.
