On sharing knowledge
30 Apr 2008 - 1900 UTC
Sharing knowledge across continents is never easy, especially for a small, self-funded, non-profit organisation. But that is precisely what we had in mind when we started the SSRF website over two years ago. The primary aim of the website is to help humanity understand the spiritual dimension and to guide the curious seeker of God all the way to God-Realisation, which is the ultimate step in spiritual growth. In the beginning we did this only through articles. But later we felt that articles by themselves did not do justice to the knowledge that could be shared. Over the months we have finally stabilised on 4 main streams to share this knowledge leveraging the latest internet technologies.
-
Articles: These will continue to be the mainstay of our knowledge sharing.
-
Audios on ‘How Spiritual Practice Helped Me’: Through these we have tried to give our readers and aspiring seekers a flavour of other seekers’ spiritual journeys. You will notice that spiritual practice benefited each of the seekers in a very personal way.
-
Videos: Through videos we bring snippets from our library of almost 4000 hours of video footage to our readers. These videos also provide a glimpse into the spiritual phenomena that SSRF has been investigating since last 2 decades, some of which are one of a kind.
-
SSRF Classroom: Through SSRF classroom we tried to recreate our offline lectures online in small 5-6 minute capsules. This is so that our readers worldwide can attend our lectures online at their convenience. Eventually we see this growing into something like an online Spiritual University. We are grateful to providers such as slideshare.net for giving us a free platform to broadcast these tutorials. Soon we will be coming up with an online examination that readers can take up to test their spiritual knowledge. This will be based on these tutorials as well as other information on the website.
Audio-video presentations are more resource-hungry; however we acknowledge that their value cannot be underestimated. Our challenge is that with our limited resources, we have to strike a balance between the number of articles and the number of audio-video presentations in a month. Behind all our decisions on what to publish are our readers and how they would benefit spiritually from the knowledge.
If any of you have any suggestions on how we can improve please do write in using the ‘post a comment’ functionality.

If the student is willing, the Guru is always teaching
19 Apr 2008 - UTC 0900
I would like to share with you an experience that has etched an indelible impression in my mind that the Guru teaches us through all situations in life if we are willing to learn from it.
The following incident happened in 2002 on one of my trips to India for spiritual research. Surburban trains are the fastest way to get from South Mumbai to North Mumbai but they are also unbelievably crowded. As I was in hurry to get to my destination in North Mumbai, I made the decision to hop on to a train during rush hour even though I was carrying some expensive video equipment with me. I wondered, “How bad could it be”. For those of you who have ventured into a Mumbai local during rush hour will probably be saying bad with a capital ‘B’.
At each station more and more people tried to get on to the train until we were squashed worse than sardines in an over-packed sardine can. At about the time when we were finding it difficult to even breathe and I was on only one foot as the other foot did not have a place to rest, a passenger tried to get onto the train with an office armchair. Everyone stared at him with disbelief and some even abused him as he jostled his way into the compartment carrying the chair on his head. The man struggled with the chair holding it above everyone’s head for a few stations.
Then all of a sudden at a station between the crowds rushing in an out when he found a small gap he put down the chair and sat on it right next to the door. Suddenly from the worst seat in the house he had the best seat, a plush leather armchair with a headrest and an exclusive view of Mumbai going by. From angry stares upto now directed at him, he was suddenly the envy of the train compartment as passengers grudgingly admitted to themselves that that was a pretty good move. It was a moment that I will remember for a very long time as the vividness of the sudden change in the man’s fortunes impressed me.
Doing spiritual practice under the guidance of SSRF, I have been trained to look at each situation as an opportunity to learn from and use it towards my spiritual goal. Standing on one foot, very sweaty and squashed, I prayed to the Guru principle to teach me something from this unique incident. Slowly and steadily as if in a whisper the answer came to me; that all our problems in life can be made into opportunities just as the man had done. This incident and learning created a paradigm shift within me and for the rest of the journey I experienced spiritual emotion of having had a personal encounter with the Guru principle which no sweaty armpit or fish basket smell could sabotage.

Child-seekers at the SSRF retreat in North America – a testimony of the benefits of spiritual practice
9 Apr 2008 - UTC 0900
I recently attended a spiritual retreat organized by SSRF. Two seekers of SSRF from New Jersey had offered their home for hosting it. Seekers of SSRF including child-seekers from various parts of North America gathered for the 3-day event. The aim of the retreat was to guide seekers who had been practicing Spirituality for some years under the guidance of SSRF, to take their spiritual practice to the next level.
While all of us benefited immensely, the child-seekers were the stars of the retreat. Thirteen children between the ages of 8 and 13 years attended the retreat. They have all been doing spiritual practice under the guidance of SSRF for the past several years. They diligently followed the schedule which was chalked out for their age group. The sessions included spiritual healing sessions, study sessions and narrating experiences pertaining to the subtle dimension.
Following are some observations regarding the children:
-
All the children displayed remarkable qualities such as attentive listening, note-taking, sincere desire of putting what they learnt into practice, respect and obedience.
Many of them had spiritual experiences during the retreat. For example upon forgetting what he wanted to narrate to others, one child seeker prayed to His Holiness Dr. Athavale and immediately remembered what he wanted to narrate.
-
In the concluding session all the children readily summarized learnings and action points they would take back home and practice.
Their overall behaviour was a real testimony of how spiritual practice can shape children into wholesome human beings.

300 Articles and we haven’t even begun!
5 Apr 2008 UTC – 0900
SSRF’s website crossed another milestone in its history, when it reached the 300 mark in articles published. While this is great because the depth of knowledge is inarguably one of its kind on the Internet, the editorial team does have a problem. It’s a good problem to have because with over 40,000 A4 size pages of divine knowledge received, one could well say we haven’t even begun. Over and above this, divine knowledge continues to be received on a daily basis which goes into a queue to be published. All this knowledge received from the Universal Mind and Intellect will eventually find its way to the world over the course of the next few generations as it is presented in a manner that everyone can understand. Until then we are working as fast as we can to give our readers a taste of the diversity and depth of knowledge through various articles on how the spiritual dimension impacts every facet of our lives.
Many of the articles have stemmed from divine knowledge received by Anjali Gadgil. Anjali is one of our leading seekers with advanced sixth sense, who acquires divine knowledge from the Universal Mind and Intellect. The other day we went to clarify a point pertaining to some of the knowledge received by her. She looked up casually from a very intricate drawing that she was receiving on the complete hierarchy of the Supreme God principle to the various deities. She promptly answered my question and after that she went right back to completing the drawing. A unique characteristic about the way Anjali receives divine knowledge is that even if she is interrupted midway between receiving knowledge, when she resumes she does not have to check back to see where she had stopped. The knowledge flow begins from the exact point that she was interrupted at.
Living at SSRF’s spiritual research centre at Ramnathi, Goa in India is a spiritual smorgasbord of spiritual knowledge and phenomena. Every day we are witness to various unique spiritual phenomena because of the grace and resolve of His Holiness Dr. Athavale. Out here the influence of the spiritual dimension is palpable in all one’s activities as the seeker residents of the ashram live and breathe spiritual practice. Seekers are constantly reminded and trained to hone their sixth sense through spiritual practice. Being part of the entire process and experiencing it all first hand, adds another dimension to the writing of the articles.
We have immensely enjoyed this journey of presenting the divine knowledge to all our readers. We hope and pray that our readers also enjoy and benefit from this treasure of knowledge in their spiritual journey.

New Product Line
21 Mar 2008 - 2100 UTC
Very recently we introduced a new product line to the SSRF Shop. The product line is ‘Other books by His Holiness Dr. Athavale’. The books range across the entire spectrum of Spirituality and can benefit both the novice in Spirituality and the experienced seeker. So far over 2.5 million copies of these books have been published in 12 languages. A major proportion of the knowledge available in these books cannot be found anywhere else in the world. The knowledge in some of the books is completely obtained from divine knowledge by seekers through advanced sixth sense or extrasensory perception (ESP).
A defining characteristic of these books is that they are made entirely by seekers of SSRF as their spiritual practice. In 2003 when I had been to the SSRF printing press that is run entirely by seekers, I happened to ask the seekers there about their normal profession. I got a banker, a farmer, a medical assistant, an engineer and few other professions but I didn’t get anyone who was from the printing business. The reason they were able to set up and run a printing press for the past 10 years without any formal training or work experience was because of their sheer determination and desire to serve God by spreading Spirituality. An all important underlying factor was of course the backing of the resolve (sankalp) of His Holiness Dr. Athavale. Right from receipt of knowledge to compilation to proof-reading, cover designing to finally printing, binding, distribution, sales, accounting; the processes are all done by seekers as their satseva (service to God).
We sincerely hope that our readers benefit from this treasure of information about spiritual practice and spiritual science.

How ghosts tried to stop society from access to knowledge about ancestral problems
29 Feb 2008 0900 UTC
Spiritual research by SSRF has revealed that 100% of the world’s population is affected by ancestral problems at some time or the other in their lives. In most cases this effect is adverse and creates problems in their descendant’s lives. Hence we have devoted an entire section of our website to ancestral problems. With a view of educating society of the ubiquitous nature of this spiritual problem in their lives, as well as the means of overcoming it, we recently ran a Google Adwords campaign on ancestors.
To begin with, when we researched the various keywords that people associate with ancestors in their search criteria, we realized that there was a general lack of awareness about the role of departed ancestors in problems in our lives. The only keywords that touched upon the subtle aspects of ancestors were ‘ancestor worship’ and ‘ancestor veneration’.
We chose some 53 keywords associated with ancestors so that when people searched for these keywords, they would be presented with a Google advertisement that linked them to our ‘ancestral problems’ section. Since words associated with ancestors are of non-commercial value we expected to pay the usual 15 to 20 cents/click. Initially as expected this was what Google charged us.
However within hours of the campaign going live some of the keywords were made inactive and we were asked to pay substantially more for at least half the keywords. Within 24 hours 52 keywords were made inactive asking us to increase the amount we were willing to pay/click. It was interesting to note that we were charged highest for the keywords that were most associated with the subtle dimension of ancestors such as ancestor worship and ancestor veneration.

In other words Google was asking us to pay $6.50 and $13 per click for non-commercial keywords such as ancestor worship and ancestor veneration respectively. Needless to say our entire campaign came to a grinding halt within 24 hours of launch.
Seekers from the SSRF subtle department found that this was actually an attack by ghosts (demons, devils, negative energies, etc.) and this was confirmed by His Holiness Dr. Athavale. It was in fact an attempt by ghosts to prevent the world from learning that many of the chronic and persistent problems in their lives are because of departed ancestors. And by doing so they effectively tried to prevent the world from taking any corrective action. This was a classic example of how ghosts can manipulate and subvert any process to their advantage.

SSRF seeker Satyawandada attains Sainthood
Date: 21 Feb 2008 Time: 1400 UTC
Today yet another seeker, Satyawan Kadam (fondly known as Satyawandada), doing spiritual practice under the guidance of His Holiness Dr. Athavale attained Sainthood, i.e. reached the spiritual level of 70%. He is the fifth SSRF seeker to attain Sainthood, the others being Her Holiness Phadke (known as Phadkeaji), His Holiness Deshpande (known as Deshpandekaka), Her Holiness Pethe (known as Petheaji) and His Holiness Nikam (known as Nikamtatya).
His Holiness Satyawandada started His spiritual practice in 1990 at the age of 27. Today at 44, in a short span of just 15 years He has completed His journey from a seeker to a Saint.
This is His subtle picture as perceived by Madhura Bhosale, a SSRF seeker having advanced sixth sense.

One of His salient features is that because of His low ego, H.H. Dr. Athavale had declared many months in advance that He would be attaining Sainthood. On the other hand the Sainthood of all other SSRF Saints was declared after they had attained Sainthood. He is a beacon of inspiration to all seekers striving for God-realisation.

The New Homepage
Date: 15 Jan 2008 Time: 0900 UTC
It has been two years since we launched the SSRF website on the 14 Jan 2006. Over the past two years the website has grown by leaps and bounds but unfortunately the homepage did not reflect the growth.
We therefore put our minds together to design a new homepage to help our readers better access the invaluable spiritual research presented on the website. The result was the newly launched homepage. With this page you will be able to access the depths of the website mostly with just a single click.
We have also added Adobe Flash components on the homepage so that there is a greater degree of interactivity. With this we also introduced a new section – ‘How Spiritual Practice Helped Me’. The section presents life changing experiences of seekers (in their own voice) who have been guided by SSRF in their spiritual practice. We hope you are inspired by the variety of spiritual experiences and are helped by them to overcome obstacles in your own life. We wish you the very best in your spiritual journey.
Over the next few weeks we will be changing the entire site over to the new wider format.

November 2007 - SSRF’s Newsletter
Date: 24 Nov 2007 Time: 1800 UTC
We recently uploaded the 7th issue of our monthly newsletter.
The ‘SSRF Monthly – A Guide to Living Spirituality’ gathers snippets of information, news and tips on Spirituality and spiritual practice.
It is meant to complement the matter published on our website and to give practical insight as to how to go about one’s spiritual practice on a sustained basis.
Being in regular satsang (company of the Absolute Truth) helps propel our efforts in spiritual practice. Our newsletter is an additional form of satsang for seekers who are earnest about putting into practice points as advised by spiritual science. We particularly recommend it for those seekers who are not within geographical proximity of our regular satsangs. Through the newsletter, we are also providing exclusive reports from our spiritual research team and announcing upcoming SSRF projects to look out for.
You can access the newsletters via our homepage, but if you would like them delivered to you by email every 15th of the month, you can subscribe to it via your SSRF member account. If we’ve not convinced you to create your login yet, this is a new attempt J.
Do give us your feedback and tell us what you would like to see featured in our next issues.

Importance we give spiritual practice
Date: 31 July 2007 Time: 2116 UTC
I had an important realisation the other day with regards to the importance we need to give our spiritual practice.
I have been working for the better part of my life and like most people my job has pretty much occupied the main part of my day. As office-goers we revolve our entire lives around our job. We reshuffle our personal life and family matters so that they do not come in the way of our job timings. Even if we are ill we sometimes ignore it for a meeting at work.
I had this realisation that as a seeker of God, if we are serious about our spiritual journey we need to give the same if not more importance to spiritual practice than we do for our job.
The reason? If we lose our job because we have not taken it seriously, at the most it would affect us for a few months and we can always get another. However if we don’t take our spiritual practice seriously not only this lifetime but many other lifetimes can be adversely affected.
Even though we give our job so much of priority, we never lose out on our family/personal life. Similarly by giving priority to spiritual practice on a regular basis we only improve the quality of our life and relationships.

Spirituality or Spiritualism
Date: 23 Jul 2007 Time: 0500 UTC
We were recently asked what SSRF is all about - Spirituality or Spiritualism. Our definition of Spirituality which is synonymous with what we call Spiritual science is about understanding God and His creation and how to realise/experience Him. Most dictionaries describe spiritualism as a process of contacting the dead and spirits from the after-life etc. From our viewpoint Spiritualism is just a part of Spiritual science or Spirituality.
In a seeker’s journey for God-realisation, he invariably faces obstacles by negative energies such as ghosts (demons, devils, negative energies, etc.) etc. SSRF studies the entire gamut of Spiritual science so as to provide the seeker serious about realizing God in this very life time with the necessary tools to get there. Hence we also include the study of spirits and negative energies on our website and how they can influence us and distract us from our spiritual journey to God. Having said this SSRF gives priority to guiding seekers who have intense desire for God-realisation.

Fear of ghosts
Date: 21 Jul 2007 Time: 1800 UTC
Quite often we come across people who are interested in Spirituality, but evade listening to any mention of negative energies or ghosts. For example a number of people walked out of a recent viewing of the SSRF video ‘Live an aware life’ at the Mind, Body, Spirit festival in Melbourne. The reason? - Scenes of manifestation of demonic possession.
Our guess is that the following thoughts go through their minds:
-
If we don’t know about it, it won’t trouble us
-
Don’t get to something that can harm us
-
I am scared, I don’t want to see this
It is natural to be fearful of the unknown especially if it involves scary looking entities from another dimension that can give one a lot of trouble. It is also natural to feel that one best avoid indulging in the topic.
But the fact of the matter is that whether we know it or not, we are all affected by the spiritual dimension i.e. by its positive and negative side (the scary looking entities included). This means that the people who are fearful of this dimension are also affected.
The important thing to remember is that by understanding some principles about the effect of the spiritual dimension, we can take remedial measures to overcome its dark side. Regular spiritual practice gives us a sense of calm in our lives and a sense of fearlessness as we experience divine help protecting us.

SSRF at Mind Body Spirit Festival in Melbourne
Date: 22 Jun 2007 Time: 0300 UTC
The recent Mind Body Spirit festival in Melbourne (8-11 June) attracted a lot of visitors who came to learn about holistic health, leading a fulfilling life, personal development and spiritual healing. Many of those who attended the events at SSRF's stall said they perceived it to be a real jewel of the festival. Once inside the stall, many felt like staying for hours due to the positive vibrations emanating from the chanting which was being played in the background in the stall.

Around 800 people visited our stall and over half of them participated in an experiment to test their sixth sense. They also received spiritual explanations for life problems and advice on what spiritual practice to undertake. A number of visitors were pleasantly surprised that SSRF was sharing the knowledge gained through their spiritual research for free.
For us the festival was important not only from the viewpoint of sharing spiritual knowledge but also from the viewpoint of what we experienced and learnt through it. Due to service unto God performed at the festival, we experienced Bliss.
Due to a shortage of helping hands, many of us worked throughout the festival hours without a break. Under normal circumstances, we would have experienced fatigue or tiredness. However contrary to this, we all felt charged, light and really fresh. This we felt was only possible by God’s grace.
One seeker of SSRF who had a desire to serve at the festival but was initially not sure of being able to do so for all 4 days due to job obligations had the following experience: "My husband told me to just chant and pray to the Guru (the teaching principle of God). Later on the boss himself called up and said that he would take my name off the roster for that week and that I could start my job from Tuesday, the day after the MBS festival was over.’’
If you see an SSRF event taking place in your vincinity and would like to volunteer, do contact us. If physical distance is an obstacle, do look out for the list of other things you can do to help SSRF, which we will soon be made available within the SSRF login profiles.

Three good reasons to Donate to SSRF
Date: 12 Apr 2007 Time: 0100 UTC
SSRF has been conducting spiritual research on an ongoing basis for 20 years to find out the root causes of various problems in life and their solutions. We have been sharing these findings with the world free-of-charge. Running a website and organising events for the spread of this Spiritual knowledge free-of-charge does take up substantial financial resources. The cost of human resources however is the most expensive overhead. Seekers volunteer their services to SSRF as part of their service to God. It is for this reason we have been able to manage on shoe string budgets.
As a non-profit organisation, SSRF is always looking at ways to reduce its operating costs. For example, almost all the computers and equipment at the SSRF ashrams used to document spiritual research are second hand or have been donated. We collect one-side-used paper from offices and use the blank side to document research findings before recycling it.
As we open up our Online Payment Gateway for accepting donations to SSRF, we decided to list some reasons why you may want to make a donation:
1) The information that SSRF publishes has immensely benefited many people and perhaps even you personally. By donating, we extend this benefit to many others by helping this information to reach more people across the world.
2) Donating is a way of expressing our gratitude to God for the solutions we have gained to life-long problems.
3) Sacrificing a small part of our material wealth for a spiritual cause helps our spiritual progress.
If you would like to share your reasons with everyone on why you want to donate – please write to us, and we may add it to the list!
Do see our Donation FAQ section for more details on donations.

We recently got in touch with a nice blog from the Netherlands called Snoedel. (Snoedel, pronounced 'Snoodle', we learnt, is a Dutch word meaning snuggle.)
It was good to see that our content resonates with others. One reader there wrote: "Wonderful web site! It will help many people! The short excerpt featured here will also bring people to your site as well to read more. We are in the most exciting of times!"
A few days earlier, John from Beyond Religion wrote back in response to a letter from us: "Your site is amazing. I have never seen anything like it before. You are doing significant and groundbreaking work. I'm sure our readers would benefit from what you are doing."
Caroleen and John, we couldn't agree more!
Some of our members work tirelessly to share the knowledge published by SSRF with others. If you would like to give us a hand and link into SSRF content from other places, or have suggestions where we could do so, please get in touch with us via our Login system.

Did you visit us at the Toronto Holistic Fair?
Date: 29 Mar 2007 Time: 1300 UTC
SSRF held a booth at this 3-day event from 16 till 18 March, demonstrating its spiritual healing remedies, ‘test your sixth sense’ experiments, short videos and case studies to over 500 curious visitors. We also held a lecture on spiritual self-healing.

A number of volunteers in Canada attended to the visitors as part of their service to SSRF. One segment of our daily schedule during the fair included demonstrating the spiritual healing remedies of salt water treatment, boxes and chanting.
After trying the remedies, one lady told us: “I felt refreshed within minutes. I was also surprised that even with so much noise from the surrounding booths I could focus on the chant played by SSRF.”
If you have missed us at the fair, you can always make up for it by attending one of our regular lectures in Toronto. Aside from Canada, there will be opportunities to visit us at upcoming fairs in other parts of the world – New Jersey, Zagreb and Melbourne - over the coming months. Keep a lookout for announcements on our Events page.

Have you seen ‘Live an Aware Life’?
Date: 24 Mar 2007 Time: 1300 UTC
We sometimes find it hard to put everything in words and to make up for that we are producing a series of short videos. We're starting off with this 20-minute introduction which is a small vignette into who we are and our research. (It is only just a teeny-weeny part of our research caught on film for a wider audience). It’s not for the faint hearted as we have a few clips of ghosts manifesting.
One amazing fact about this video is that it was scripted, filmed and edited in just over 2 weeks, using the skill sets of just a handful of volunteer SSRF seekers.

This seeker, who took up the role of Sam watching his life pass by, agreed to shave off his moustache (that he is very particular about) and put on quite a bit of make up for the role! He readily consented to 4 hours of make-up and acting as part of his regular service to SSRF. When he is not playing Sam, Ashish Sawant offers his skills in our Art Department.
Let us know your thoughts about the video, and also which other topics of spiritual science you think we should feature in our videos. Click here to comment.

Serial killers – a menace to society
Date: 8 Dec 2006 Time: 1300 UTC
One of the growing troubles faced by society especially in the past two decades is a phenomenon of serial killers. Chases are organised, detectives and forensics are summoned and usually, after several corpses are discovered, the killer gets caught. Such cases hit all news and stay in the media for some time. Society where a serial killer operated is left with a scar of family pains, a feeling of powerlessness and disdain.
The statistics are grim. The USA has 76% of the world’s serial killers. In the USA, the state of California leads. Europe is second with 17%. England has produced 28% of the European total, followed by Germany with 27% and France with 13%.
From 1900 to 1999, at least 236 serial killers haunted the United States killing 3,130 people. And it has been estimated that anywhere from 10 to 500 serial killers are active in the United States at any given time.
Many pages are written and many doctorates earned in the attempt to understand the phenomenon of a serial murderer. Yet, modern science falls short in having a final explanation as well as providing prevention and cure.
Spiritual research has shown that the root cause for committing serial killing lies in the spiritual realm.
The cause of a serial killing is 90% spiritual in nature, 10% psychological and 0% physical. What does this tell us?
It tells us that the person committing serial killing has been under the influence of a higher-level ghost (demon, devil, negative energy etc.). In other words he was a medium used by a higher-level ghost to kill many people.
Interestingly even the serial killers themselves mention that they have been possessed by a ghost during the act of murder, or that they felt someone else was guiding their actions, or that they were remote from their mind and body and just in some kind of numb observer mode, etc. All of these comments strongly point to symptoms of a demonic manifestation.
It is important to note that if a ghost is behind the murders it does not exonerate the killer from the responsibility for committing murders. Why is this so?
According to Spiritual science even though an act may have happened due to the person being under the complete influence of the ghost, he/she still has to face complete punishment for it.
As per the science of Spirituality, if the deeds of a person cause subtle basic raja-tama pollution in the environment, then he has to face punishment for it. Now, whether the deed has happened due to him first hand or through his medium because of the influence of the ghost, the deed has taken place and it has polluted the environment. Hence the person becomes liable for punishment.
This is because in the first place it is due to one's incorrect deeds and personality defects that a ghost enters one's body. Before the entry of the ghost, when the person was in complete control of his intellect he has still done wrong deeds. Generally it is because of these incorrect deeds in many births and his personality defects that a ghost matching both these factors enters him, which then makes him commit further incorrect actions. Even in this state God gives the opportunity to rid oneself of the ghost by doing spiritual practice but most neglect it and instead give in to the possession of the ghost.
This menace to society can be eliminated only if a large majority of society regularly does spiritual practice in accordance with the five basic principles of spiritual practice. Short of this, at least those doing spiritual practice regularly develop a progressively increasing protective covering of subtle basic sattva component. This God’s protection in itself serves as a prevention against being attacked by such criminals and be protected from being affected by subtle raja-tama particles which increase after serial killings in the area.

Causes of sleepwalking and its treatment
Date: 20 Nov 2006 Time: 0100 UTC
A few days ago, I saw a program on the ABC television channel on sleepwalking in Brisbane, Australia. The sleepwalkers showed a variety of strange behaviour ranging from restlessness, switching the lights on-off, walking in the house or street, going places, talking as in a ‘conversation’, shouting, abusing, throwing things, hitting the partners, etc.
The statistics found on the Internet about sleepwalking quote that as high as 18% of the population suffers from sleepwalking. There is however a lack of consensus on the causes of sleepwalking.
Intrigued by the phenomena of sleepwalking, I went through the archives of spiritual research that had been conducted by SSRF. The following were the findings on the topic of sleepwalking.
-
Root causes of sleep walking
-
Physical: 0%
-
Psychological: 5%
- Spiritual: 95%
-
-
Spiritual factors are primarily due to common ghost (bhoot) playing pranks i.e. getting the person to do some small mischief.
-
More elaborate acts during sleepwalking such as gruesome murders etc. are orchestrated by subtle sorcerers (maantriks).
-
According to Spiritual science even though an act may have happened due to the person being under the complete influence of the ghost, he/she still has to face complete punishment for it. This spiritual punishment is in the form of demerits accrued which play out either in this life or the next. The reason for this is because a ghost gains entry into us due to our own vulnerabilities. These vulnerabilities include a high amount of demerits accrued from previous births, incorrect deeds, personality defects such as fear and anger, lack of spiritual practice etc.
As the root cause of sleepwalking is primarily spiritual, only spiritual remedies or spiritual practice will help in alleviating it. Regular spiritual practice as recommended in the section on ‘Start your spiritual journey’ will provide relief from this phenomenon. Spiritual practice needs to be done daily and lifelong to protect ourselves from the harmful side of the spiritual realm and to also facilitate spiritual progress. It is recommended that partners and other members of the family also do spiritual practice to protect themselves from any hazards or risks from sleepwalkers. Spiritual remedies such as salt water treatment are also recommended.

In a recent article on the BBC website, the world's pollution hotspots were mapped. It is evident that the countries that have been singled out in the research have to strive to reduce this pollution.
However is clearing up the physical mess enough?
If we analyse the root causes of why this happened in the first place, it would basically boil down to people and their utter disregard for the world that we live in. So what makes people behave in a manner that is harmful for society?
Spiritual research identifies a more serious and insidious pollution affecting the world. If we dig deeper, to find out why people behave this way; at a spiritual level, it is primarily because of an increase in the subtle basic raja-tama component in society. A rise in these unseen components causes deleterious effects worldwide which are not necessarily limited to physical pollution. The following are some of the effects of increased raja and tama.
-
People causing physical pollution
-
Eruption of famines and disease
-
Terrorism and violent behaviour
-
Wars and genocide
-
Natural disasters
All this occurs because of people who have a high predominance of raja and tama frequencies resulting in little or no regard for their fellow man.
A complete solution to problems worldwide can only be found if we include the spiritual dimension. This includes the putting in place of:
-
concerted efforts for identifying and eliminating the escalation of raja-tama and
-
sustained efforts for keeping the raja-tama in check and increasing sattva.
For all this to happen, spiritual practice that conforms to five basic principles of spiritual practice is a must.

Halloween increases the probability of attack by ghosts
Date: 01 Nov 2006 Time: 0100 UTC
31 October is celebrated in the western world as Halloween’s day. On Halloween night, adults and children dress up as creatures from the underworld (ghosts, ghouls, zombies, witches, goblins), light bonfires, and enjoy spectacular fireworks displays. The houses are decorated by carving pumpkins or turnips into scary faces and other decorations. Some of the most popular yard decorations are jack-o'-lanterns, scarecrows, witches, orange and purple string lights, inflatable decorations such as spiders, pumpkins, mummies, vampires and other monstrous creatures. Other popular decorations are foam tombstones and gargoyles.
These types of celebrations are harmful from a spiritual point of view. The reasons for this are:
-
A rule of Spiritual science says that ‘The word, touch, form, taste, smell and its related energy coexist’. Thus where the word ‘God’ is present God’s attendant divine energy is also present. That is why we feel better after chanting God’s name or praying to Him.
Similarly where the name and form of ghosts (demons, devils, negative energies etc.) exist, their distressing energy is also present. As the form and colour of the decorations and costumes is similar to that of ghosts, they act as antennae (similar frequency conduits) to attract a lot of negative distressing energy. The distressing energy has the effect of draining us physically as well as emotionally, intellectually and spiritually.
-
These types of celebrations are steeped in the subtle basic raja and tama components due to the nature of costume, colours and themes. For example, black has the ability to attract up to 70% of all possible negative vibrations in the surrounding environment and is the most tamasik of all colours. As ghosts are also raja and tama predominant they are attracted to the raja and tama generated out of these celebrations. Such celebrations are therefore rife with the presence of ghosts. The increase in the raja and tama vibrations also adds to people’s vulnerability to be possessed by ghosts.
-
At a level of society, due to the heightened raja-tama as a result of scale of Halloween activities all across the country everyone is adversely affected. The detrimental effect of these raja-tama frequencies manifests with an overall rise in restlessness, depression, fatigue, irritability, increased negative behaviour like vandalism etc.

An intellectual way to comprehend the existence of the spiritual realm
Date: 29 Oct 2006 Time: 0100 UTC
Many people debate about the existence of the intangible spiritual realm and its immense influence on our lives. It is simply impossible to bring closure to this debate by the use of one’s intellect and modern research tools. The reason is that by definition itself the spiritual realm is beyond the understanding of the mind and intellect. Hence we cannot insist on getting evidence for it through physical instruments like photographic cameras and other electric and electronic gadgets. The spiritual realm can only be researched through spiritual research methodologies, which need a person’s activated sixth sense (ESP). Unfortunately it is rare for people to have an activated sixth sense.
So the dilemma whether the spiritual dimension really exists remains unanswered in most peoples’ minds.
A suggested way to resolve this dilemma is to inspect the outcome of applying spiritual remedies on problems in life.
Let us take the example of a person who has eczema on his hand that simply does not go away even after various skin specialists try to treat it for many years. Modern science views eczema as something that has happened due to some disturbance at the bodily and/or psychological level and hence directs treatment at resolving the disturbance.
Now let us suppose this person suffering from eczema was to undertake a spiritual remedy like chanting the Name of God and gets cured immediately.
The fact that the hand has got cured is a concrete, tangible event beyond dispute for all to see. Now comes the next step, how do we explain the cure?
Since the only new factor is the spiritual treatment, then by means of one’s intellect one can conclude that the cure is due to it. Since the spiritual remedy will act at a spiritual level, it follows that the root cause of the eczema was beyond the bodily and/or psychological level, i.e. it was at a spiritual level. Hence only a spiritual remedy could cure it.
Thus from examples such as the above, we can understand indisputably that the spiritual realm does definitely exist, even though we cannot see or feel it due to a lack of sixth sense (ESP) ability.
Having said this it will only be prudent to point out that just 2% of the spiritual realm can be understood by means of one’s intellect. 98% can only be experienced by one’s sixth sense.

Miracles are not always what they seem
Date: 13 Oct 2006 Time: 0100 UTC
From time to time we are made aware of some supernatural happenings and miracles that happen all around the world. The miracles range from apparitions of deities or holy figures to salt-water turning to sweet water or blood oozing from religious artifacts.
The thing about miracles such as these is that they may not always be of divine origin. In the spiritual research that SSRF has conducted over many such cases, it has been observed that higher level ghosts (demons, devils, negative energies etc.) such as sorcerers are the cause of many such miracles. The sorcerers emit their black energy through the so called ‘miracle’ and as people throng to the miracle site the sorcerers possess them or adversely affect them.
In the case of a divine root cause, it is generally due to inferior deities to help people. If superior deities want to help society they never appear as an apparition or instigate supernatural phenomenon; but take an incarnation form.
For a miracle to happen or for us to perceive it, we need to have a very high spiritual level as well as very high faith. The present day society is sadly lacking to great extent on both counts. Hence one has to be very careful to confirm the genuineness of the miracle from a Saint of more than 70% spiritual level before believing in it.
Unless one has an advanced sixth sense (ESP), one cannot discern whether divine intervention or ghosts are behind a miracle. It is therefore best not to get caught up in the frenzy caused by a miraculous occurrence. Instead it would be prudent to concentrate on spiritual practice which is in accordance with the five basic principles of spiritual practice. In this way one, is able to develop ones own sixth sense and not be misguided by miracles caused by ghosts (demons, devils, negative energies etc.).
